Great Tips for storing your RV, Boat and Motorcycle during the Winter
If you live in an area that's very cold during winter, time will come when you will need to put your Rv, Boat or Motorcycle in storage through the long and snowy winter months. Especially In a place like Texas where the weather is very unpredictable. Storing your Rv, Boat, and Motorcycle properly will have a significant effect not only on the physical appearance of your vehicle but also on its engines reliability. Below are some steps that should be taken when storing your big investments for winter. Especially In a place like Texas where the weather is very unpredictable.
PREPARING YOUR RV FOR WINTER
When it comes to winterizing your RV, you can choose whether you'd like it done in a maintenance shop or to DIY. If you decide to do it yourself, below are the steps you'll need:
1-Prepare the interior and exterior of your RV by cleaning everything, completely emptying the interior, resealing any cracks, covering any holes and openings to prevent animals and pests from entering and taking action to get rid of any odor.
2- Ensure you completely drain your plumbing system because traces of water can result into expanding and freezing, which will end up damaging your system. You can do this in two ways, either by using a blowout plug and an air compressor or by filling up the system with an antifreeze solution meant for RVs
3- Fill the windshield washer and radiator with a solution containing antifreeze to prevent rusting and breaking the tanks.
4- Protect the Rv's tires using outside jacks, leveling jacks or by moving them at times during winter. Also, make sure you put something between the tires and the ground and inflate them to the recommended pressure.
5- Fully charge the batteries, remove them and store them somewhere safe. Another alternative is leaving them in place and firing up your RV at least once a month.
6- Store your Rv in a waterproof location. The location should be on solid ground, indoors or at least under a good waterproof cover.
A boat is a massive investment, and if you don't winterize it properly, it could cost you a fortune. So what are the steps involved in boat winterizing and maintenance?
1- Get rid of all the materials vulnerable to moisture from the boats' interior before cleaning, drying and waxing the boat.
2- Fill the fuel tanks with gasoline and add a stabilizer to protect the engine from rust and corrosion.
3-Fill the cooling system with a well-diluted anti-freeze solution for engine protection.
4-Change the oil and get rid of any water to avoid corrosion of the engine.
5- Grease or apply the recommended lubricants to all the moving parts on your boat as instructed on the user manual.
6. Remove or loosen drive belts avoid cracking
7-Seal all exhaust ports to prevent pests and small animals from entering it.
8- Fully charge and disconnect the battery or completely remove it to prevent it from draining during winter. You can also fire up your engine regularly to make sure your boat is intact.
9- Select a nice storage option. The storage location can be outdoor, indoor or a dry stack. Remember to cover the boat after storage.
PREPARING YOUR MOTORCYCLE FOR WINTER

2- Change the Oil of your motorcycle.
3- Keep the gas tank full and add a fuel stabilizer to protect the engine and prevent rusting.

8- Seal all the openings to keep away pests and small animals.
